A Dales High Way Walk: a 90 mile walk across the glorious high country of the Yorkshire Dales

A Dales High Way

Walk the Trail: 10th anniversary - 2018

We are planning to walk the entire Dales High Way Trail in sections over a series of weekend day walks, to help celebrate the trail's 10th anniversary.

Each section will be led by an experienced walk leader, and all the walks are free, so please join us.

We will take advantage of public transport where possible to get to the start of each section and return from the end. In the main we will use the Settle-Carlisle railway, with trains leaving Leeds in the morning and returning late in the afternoon. Some sections will also involve additional bus journeys. Walkers will be responsible for any fares payable. Where we have to hire mini-busses, the cost of this will be shared by participants (we'll give advanced notice of the cost). Please be aware we cannot guarantee places will be available on public transport.

Each of these sections are quite long and the walk itself is tough, involving a lot of steep climbs over rough terrain. The pace of the walk is appropriate to the distance and the available time. We ask that walkers accept the pace set. Anyone getting ahead of the leader may be deemed to have left the walk. Please be aware that weather conditions can result in the walk grade and/or route changing significantly. Good footwear & adequate clothing (including waterproofs) are essential. Please carry enough food & drink for the day. The walk leader reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone who is judged to be not fit or adequately clothed or equipped for the walk concerned, and to vary the walk if conditions so dictate. Under 18 year olds to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Please note: NO DOGS other than registered assistance dogs, will be accepted on any of these walks. This decision has been taken in the interest of safety and enjoyment for everyone and to protect lifestock and wildlife.

Walkers will be required to pre-book each section. Contact us by email for more details:

Whilst walk leaders take every care, your comfort and safety are your own responsibility.
