Friends of A Dales High Way

The Friends of A Dales High WayWelcome to the Friends of A Dales High Way.

The Friends of A Dales High Way is an informal group that exists to help support, promote and maintain the route. It has existed as a fledgling organisation since 2009.

Membership is open to anyone who has walked some or all of the route, or who just wants to support it. Membership is free.

There are two ways to join:

  1. If you have a Facebook account you can JOIN our Facebook Group (see link below). This gives you access to ask questions, or view, add and share your own comments, suggestions, photos, videos etc. in real time. This group is for anyone who has walked, run, is planning to or dreaming of tackling the challenge that is A Dales High Way
  2. Anyone who would like to join the Friends but doesn't want to use Facebook can just send us an email and we'll keep you up to date via email and the Dales High Way Forum.

Or, to be on the safe side, you can do both.

We hope to organise occasional events for those that can make it, but online Friends can help by posting reports, photos, suggesting improvements, commenting on other suggestions and so on.

Friends have also been able to help with our efforts at Waymarking the route.

DONATE to the Friends

Membership of The Friends of A Dales High Way is free! However, we need to raise money for some of the projects we engage in, such as funding the waymarking of the trail, producing information leaflets, and supporting maintenance projects along the path. We rely entirely on donations or funding grants for this work. If you feel able to help with a small donation, either by credit or debit card, please donate online by clicking the button above.

New Dales High Way Lapel Badge

Dales High Way Lapel Badge

Now you can celebrate your Dales High Way walk with this beautiful enamel lapel badge - and help support the Friends at the same time!

This high quality pin in the glowing turquoise and purple colours of the Dales High Way logo shows the distinctive outline of Ingleborough summit. A permanent reminder of your achievement.

The badges are just 19 mm wide and have a button pin fastener at the back.

Lapel Badge design

The lapel badges were the brainchild of the staff at Appleby Tourist Information Centre (TIC), at the end of A Dales High Way. They had the badges produced so walkers finishing the trail at the Centre could pick up a souvenir or two at the same time as collecting their free certificates. The lapel badges are available at the centre for just £1.99 each.

The Friends are also offering the badges for sale online for £3.99 each - which includes free postage and packing in the UK.  All net proceeds from sales of these badges go to the Friends of A Dales High Way to be used for the continued waymarking, promotion and upkeep of the path.

To order please go the Skyware Press online store here. Payment is through Paypal (you can use your credit card if you don't have a Paypal account).

Many thanks for your support.
